 Starting a MUG Update 3
Well, the LAMUG meeting has come and gone. It was kind of like a dress rehearsal for a theatrical performance of Tron, it had a lot of cool looking technology, very few people in the audience, and it was moderately cheesy. Chalk one up to a good run through.

Last week, I remember saying "If one person shows up, I'll be happy." Well, never have I had to eat my words like that before, because that is exactly what happened. And he wasn't even a Mac user. He was writing a paper on Apple Computer's rise and fall in the mid-to-late 90's, and was doing research. But at least he sat through our presentations. And we did have another person watching, rlhamon was watching online via iChat. We hope to stream it next time, and try to add some online membership to the group as well.

So it was a good run through, and I'm trying not to let it get me down. We learned a lot, we know what to do, and what not to do. We have some ideas on how to advertise better, and we have decided to move the meetings to Sunday, since it will probably be better for everyone involved. We've also decided to wait till January for the next meeting, in the hopes that it will give us the extra time we need to make it succeed.

So here's to hoping that next time will go a lot better.

iKen the online streaming would be a big hit. I would tell everyone who would consider watching the meetings it's well worth it. Also it allows more people to get involved that would be able to. But I did like the streaming and I thought that the meeting even though lack of people was a very good presentation it also grabbed the attention of my co-employees. You did a great job and I can't wait for the next meeting!!!

I would like to go to iKen but I am busy with LAMUG and can not make it. Oh wait you are talking about LAMUG. I was totally there, oh yeah I gave a presentation too.

Hilarious intro to your story iKen, and don't be negative about this! We did good for our 1st time. It was one hell of a setup and a damn good dry run. We'll do better. =)

One idea is to submit the event to local publications, I don't know what they're called, but like the local events papers. Around Celina there's one called Steppin' Out, and where I come from it's calld the Pennysaver. I'm sure we can think of more ways to spread the word too.

And jedbeck, just don't try to watch the stream of the presentation and present at the same time. ;)

Well, I'm back, but no butt kicking going on so long as there are no suprises. I wanted to let you guys know that I'm proud of you for keeping positive and looking forward about this. It's a great concept and it doesn't smell like iKen's bedroom, which kinda smells like old ladies and socks. Ok, it really doesn't smell, I just like old ladies and socks. Anyways, for those of you that don't know, I added your link to my website and even put you in the nav bar on the lower left hand side of the page under "macintosh users". I provide access to great services on my site and will be using paid advertising by the first of the year. That translates to the possibility for more visitors to 2 guys. I also may be adding a local events page to my site here within a week or two. If you want LAMUG or 2 GUys featured, I need one of you to write an article or press release for me to post or get with me and let me know what you may want to do. Send inquiries to [email protected]
I am looking to do some local offline promoting so I want to have local appeal on the site. Shortly I'll be looking to target area small businesses that don't have a web presence or maintain an overexpensive and sucky one. You can use my referencing to you as honored publicity in your promoting. Mention things like "featured on Site-Aid.com" which gives you credibility, and gives me some publicity. We can work together on this, boyz.
.........WOOO........I just karate chopped my cat, he's always sneakin up on me!

 Deep Thoughts
Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what is I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.
