Help Stop Spam |

Are you tired of people spamming you? Want an easy way to decrease the amount of spam you get? Well my friends, I have the answer. It's a free email service that you don't even need to sign up for, and it's name is Dodgeit.
Dodgeit isn't your typical email service. For one, you can't send any mail from your "account", you can only receive mail. Why would you want to do this? Well, if you want to go to a website that requires you to provide a valid email address and you don't want it sold to spammers, for one. I think this is a pretty good reason. Actually, it's the only reason.
To use the service, all you have to do is provide a @dodgeit.com email address when prompted by what ever asks you for a valid email address. The address can be anything you want. Then go to www.dodgeit.com, enter the name you used and hit enter. Your email will be waiting for you when you log in. No signing up for a Yahoo! or Hotmail account. You never have to go back either, just get your mail and leave. It's like an anonymous drop box.
The best part is that you won't receive any junk mail in your home or work inbox from going to Sites of a Questionable Nature™, so you can get you porn spam free. And what's better than that? Well, a lot of things, I guess. |

The only thing to keep in mind is that anyone can read your mail. So don't put anything personally identifiable, and don't use it to receive your username/password from a site. If you go check mail for "randy" at dodgeit.com, you will find someone's login and password for archive.xusenet.org. Not a very secure way of having a disposable e-mail account.

That's pretty neet. Another idea is that lots of ISP's give out at least 5 free email addresses to any account holder, and you could use one of those. email addys are a cheap way to keep a customer anyway, and if 5 isn't enough for you, I bet you could ask real nicely and even get more (At least, if it's a somewhat smaller ISP).

I like dodgeit for the simple reason that you can use it once and forget about it... much like a Kleanex or your best friend's sister.

This is a great idea, I can't believe I didn't think of it!

Deep Thoughts |

I remember how my great-uncle Jerry would sit on the porch and whittle all day long. Once he whittled me a toy boat out of a larger toy boat I had. It was almost as good as the first one, except now it had bumpy whittle marks all over it. And no paint, because he had whittled off the paint.
