 Today in Mac News 11/28
Well, I am begrudgingly back to work this week, and that means another week of TiMN, here's what's happening:

- France has surrendered to pressure and cut the iPod levy. Err.. maybe that sentence should read "Freedom has surrendered to pressure and cut the iPod levy"? Either way, France will be cutting the iPod levy and that is good for all the freedom people that read our humble little blog.

-It seems that the new higher resolution PowerBooks are having a problem with dark lines on the screen. If you have a new PowerBook, check the link for more information.

-Just about anyone could have seen this coming, it appears that the iPod is topping most Christmas lists, as online retailers reported heavy demand for iPods, especially the iPod Nano. The moral to this story? If you want an iPod for Christmas get it now, cause they are going to be this years Tickle Me Elmo.

-There is a great review of the Mac Mini from a hardcore Linux geek, it's a very interesting read to see the point of view of a Linux geek purchasing a Mac for the first time.

-The great reviews of the Mac OS keep coming in, including this one: "I state confidently that the Mac operating system is the easiest, the most reliable and overall the best OS on the planet." A great read, for anyone considering a new computer.

-Another day, another virus that's causing head aches in the Windows world. The Mac is immune. :)

-I never understood the point of the seemingly useless "services" sub-menu, but as this article has pointed out it turns out that it can be quite useful, and I am going to have to start using the menu more often.

-Think you are a Photoshop wiz? Here's your chance to prove it with the Ultimate Photoshop Quiz

-Another chance to vote for Steve Jobs for top CEO. Do it....

Today's TiMN Tip of the Day

-Today's tip is something that you have probably seen before but never really realized just how useful it can be. Tiger brought us a much more defined Universal Access control panel, but the zoom feature pre-dates Tiger, and goes back at least to Panther. The zoom feature can be turned on and off by hitting Command-Option-8, then by hitting Command-Option-= or Command-Option-- (minus sign) will zoom in and out respectively. This is great any time you are in a place where you are having trouble reading text, need to zoom in on a part of a picture, or want to play a movie full screen but don't have the means (i.e. no QuickTime Pro). It's also great to impress your friends, because the animation of the entire screen zooming in/out is awesome. In Tiger all you have to do is use the mentioned key commands, but in Panther you have to enable it in Universal Access.

Well, that's it for this Monday, hope to see you all back here tomorrow.

It's funny that pirates were always going around searching for treasure, and they never realized that the real treasure was the fond memories they were creating.
