A New Era Begins Today (2 Guys Switches It's Focus) |
|
Well friends, we've had a long run here at 2 Guys, a Mac, and a Web Site. We've laughed, loved, learned, and even cried a little over the years. We've mentioned pants and fishsticks more than any other site in the history of the Web and for that, we can be proud.
But there comes a time when every site needs to evolve, and that time is now for this site. Did that make sense? Anyway, we'll be changing our focus. You see, we've grown a lot. OS X is a fantastic OS, and Apple makes great computers. While Apple isn't perfect, they do get things right most of the time, and do much better than other computer maker.
Anyhow, sometimes things are just too good in the Apple world. If I want to delete a program, all I have to do is drag it to the trash. In Windows, you either have to run a separate uninstaller program to uninstall the installed program, or go into a control panel called "Add/Remove Programs" where you can then (sometimes) remove it from there. And sometimes there are leftover registry entries that have to be manually deleted.
You see, Apple just makes it too darned easy sometimes. There's no challenge. You know how you always feel better after a hard days work compared to sitting around being lazy all day? You feel like you've accomplished something.
So from now on we'll be focusing on using Windows, and how Mac users can successfully switch over to the other side. And everyone knows there are no games for the Mac anyway - they're really only good for graphics.
We even went out and bought a brand new Dell, as those seem to be the best designed PC's in the industry (hence the name change). Already things seem to be going the way we want. Random .dll errors, having to actually install a virus program and keep the definitions up to date, installing ad-aware to check periodically for spyware, I mean, we really got our money's worth with this Dell!
On our Macs, we just had to dink around with stuff like Garageband, iMovie, and iPhoto. Speaking of iPhoto, what's up with OS X and being able to plug in a camera, which then launches iPhoto and you can import your pictures with the click of 1-button? I mean, where's the hardship? If we kept using Macs, we'd become some so soft and we'd expect everything to just work. We'd be some sort of pansies who'd cry about having to reformat every couple of weeks just because of a virus.
No, we're much better off having to do everything manually. It builds character. IRQ conflicts, problems not only finding drivers but installing them and getting them to work properly, blue screens of death ... we'd much rather have these than be spoon-fed wussy boys that didn't know how to do a Scandisk and a Defrag, or how to manually remove registry keys. (Oh, and we really missed floppies too.)
So, we're reborn again as 2 Guys, a Dell, and a Web Site, and we'll be bringing you all sorts of goodies about how fix problems in the Windows world, as well as the latest funny stuff that Mike Dell is up to.
We hope you stay with us during this changeover, and if you do, hold onto your pants - because it's going to be a huge shockwave felt throughout the entire World Wide Web! |

I think that it's a good switch. I sold Dells before and I think that they are wonderful machines. I know that I just recently spend 2grand on this iMac and well I think that I should buy a 499.99 Dell so I can still write articles.

It's about time. I have been waiting to switch over to windows for the last 8 years. I am ready to suffer and protest and fight the machine instead of just plain using it.

We've all been getting too soft. Not using our minds for computer support related things. Fooling around with arty things like music and photos.
Life should be tougher. Toughness builds character. Character adds life. We need to get back to that man vs. machine style of living. Endless hours of Jerry Pournell discussing how to reinstall windows on his Chettah. Yah Life should be tougher. TV Remotes have been making us fat and soft. Think how many calories you'de lose having to get up and change the channel. Have Dell, Will Sell. Good luck with the new site.
If I sell my Mac I can get two Dells for twice the fun.

I've got to say that our timing was pretty bad. Some people thought our name change had to do with April Fool's, but no. Dell's are a way of life. People just don't understand how good things are with a Dell ... ah geez ... ok I can't keep this up any longer.
Macs rule, Windows drools. There. I said it. Ya happy?
Dell's might be a good option if you plan on installing Linux on 'em or -possibly- just for a gaming machine.
But if nothing else, it gives us a big bag of stuff to write about. And man, that Mike Dell! All his funny shenanigans never get old!
When will we go back to being "2 Guys, a Mac, and a Web site"? We don't know. Either when it gets old, dumb, or Steve Jobs sends us a couple PowerMac G5's to sway us back from the dark side.
Steve, you know the power we hold over the populace. It's up to you if you want marketshare back. Call us.

Anyone with a mind uses a MAC, anyone without a mind uses a PC
I would rather spend a grand on a MAC, then have to reload a PC (my fulltime job that pays me well to fix the mindless PCs)

Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail.
