Sharing files with Windows on 10.2
For users like myself that are stuck in a Windows world and are forced to share files with these primitive machines, you may have found that while using Jaguar with Dave 3.0 installed you could not connect to a Windows machine. While in theory this would be a vast utopia in which to live, it is not really a reality we can count on quite yet. There is a fix however on Thursby's Website. You can either:
A) Buy Dave 4.0, which is in beta now for $149
or you can
B) Delete the files manually for Dave because the installer no longer works. Cost: FREE and works seamlessly.
Here is what you do:

Make sure to first boot into Mac OS 9 to delete these files. The first section lists the locations of the major components. The second section lists files that are actually created by the product. All installed files may be found in these locations.

Major component locations:
/Library/Application Support/DAVE Setup Assistant.app
/Library/DirectoryServices/Plugins/CIFSPlugIn.dsplug
/Library/Documentation/Help/DAVE Help.help
/Library/Frameworks/Thursby.framework
/Library/PreferencePanes/DAVELogin.prefPane
/Library/PreferencePanes/DAVENetwork.prefPane
/Library/PreferencePanes/DAVESharing.prefPane
/Library/StartupItems/CIFS
/System/Library/Extensions/cifs.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/NetBIOS.kext
/System/Library/Filesystems/DAVE
/sbin/mount_cifs
• NOTE: The /sbin folder doesn't show up in the Mac OS 9 Finder, so it may appear that it has been uninstalled. To remove this, wait until after you've restarted into Mac OS X. Then use the terminal (located in the hard drive under Applications/Utilities folder) and type in 'sudo rm -f /sbin/mount_cifs' (without the quotes). This file may be invisible.

Created files:
/Library/Preferences/com.thursby.DAVE.Network.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.thursby.DAVE.Sharing.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.thursby.DAVE.cifsd.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.thursby.DAVENetworkUtility.plist
$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.thursby.DAVE.plist
• NOTE: $HOME is the user's home folder.
/System/Library/Filesystems/DAVE/DAVE Printing
• NOTE: Above location is the printing spool folder and may have been changed in the DAVE Sharing preference pane.
