 Today in Mac News 10/27
A very slow news day today, but here's what you may have missed...

-The porn-on-iPod (is it happening or not) saga continues today when the "pornographers are embracing the iPod" side took a swing with this story entitled "Pornographers embracing iPod" which basically seeds the idea to paranoid soccer moms that the iPod (with video) is nothing more then an outlet for pornographers to corrupt the minds of their innocent children, and are scrambling to make sure every iPod is corrupted with smut. With such great bold lines as "The iTunes software has parental controls." and "Kids can get around those controls" and offering this priceless piece of advice: "So, Mom and Dad, try to familiarize yourself with iTunes' content areas. The key one is "Library." Click it to see a listing of audio and video content. A search field lets you look for keywords such as "sex."" Wow, thanks Sherlock!

-Creative is crying about Apple's deal with Samsung for flash media to use in iPod Nano's, claiming it will cause industry wide shortage of 1GB flash memory, and that because of this deal many "low-end [manufacturers] went out of business in the last few months" (completely forgetting that low end manufacturers of MP3 players go out of business because their product suck). Can you believe jealous competitors are still crying about this almost 2 weeks after Apple dropped the joint investment plan with Samsung.

-A couple doctors that dabble in computer programming in Switzerland have developed software designed to use the iPod to view medical images. They claim it could save hospitals thousands of dollars (which, I am sure, patients will see the savings passed right on to them). It appears the good doctors use a Mac (from the picture in the link) but how serious could you take your doctor if he strolls in listening to his iPod, pausing it only to show you your x-rays. And what if he accidentally shows you some smut that the Pornography industry has infected his iPod with?

-It looks like Rob Enderle is talking to cosmic Stan again, only this time I think he paid cosmic stan in his normal MD 20/20 before getting his info, because the predictions Rob makes in his newest article are pretty far out-there. He starts off by predicting that Apple will do away with optical drives in notebooks in favor of flash readers, and iPod docking ports (blaming it on the fight between blu-ray and HD-DVD). He even goes so far as to say that iPods connected to these notebooks will be able to be used a s a second display. (who the FSCK is going to want to use a 2.5" screen as a seconds display? What the FSCK could you use it for?) Then he goes on to predict that Apple will not only release a phone, but will re-invent the wheel and start an entire phone service. He then goes on to predict Apple changing from mostly white offerings to mostly black and a 45" cinema display to replace the current 30" offering. Those last two predictions are the only feasible ones IMHO.

-Ecamm software released PowerBoost allowing any G4 computer to initiate and join in multi-party video conferences in iChat AV 3. It's $8 shareware, but they do offer a free demo to try it out.

Well, that's it for today, until tomorrow, good night!

Cosmic Stan was totally Pissed when he found out that I outed him and Rob. Don't FSCK with Stan trust me. That's why there wasn't ever episode 2.

Also I'm sure that doctors will pass saving onto you when showing you an xray on their ipod. *piff blood suckers

 Deep Thoughts
I scrambled to the top of the precipice where Nick was waiting. "That was fun," I said. "You bet it was," said Nick. "Let's climb higher." "No," I said. "I think we should be heading back now." "We have time," Nick insisted. I said we didn't, and Nick said we did. We argued back and forth like that for about 20 minutes, then finally decided to head back. I didn't say it was an interesting story.
