New Shelf Life for Linux Support?
Is the world's most famous open source Operating System in trouble?

Two of the major distributors of the Linux OS have recently announced that from now on, support will come with a shelf life. Red Hat and Mandrake are giving "2 weeks notice" to get your older Linux box up to date. Security patches will no longer be available from the distributers after a year of the release date. This is a major bomb to the open source community considering that these distributors have provided the most secure security patches for their OS. However, this is an excellent opportunity for the open source community to pull together and prove their opposition wrong. of Security Focus states his concerns in his article New Linux Support Policies are Ominous.
