The Words "CompUSA" & "Not Sucking" in the Same Sentence? |
|
Have you ever wanted to get some software, or distribute your own software without the hassle of getting on and messing around on that extremely complicated and impossible to search through Internet? Or maybe you have some older software that is close to its shelf-life, and the costs are too great to continue to distribute it? Or maybe you are just stuck on dial-up?
Well fear not, because CompUSA is coming to the rescue this summer!
CompUSA is (get this) not sucking with their new idea called Software ToGoŽ, in fact it is a pretty neat idea. Basically, the customer can go to a CompUSA store and can peruse the different software titles. When they decide what they want, they can burn the software right in the store. Then, CompUSA store personnel "use the SoftwareToGo Order Fulfillment Station (OFS) to burn the software title onto a CD, complete with a product specific four-color package cover, title text, its own separate "getting started" sheet, and certificate of authenticity with serial number. The CDs are placed in a DVD-style case, sealed and delivered to the customer on the spot."

Very cool, if you can track down the single employee scheduled to work that day who is in the back moving stock. Don't ask a question. It just elicits a lie because they don't know the answer. You get no more help at CompUSA than you do at a shopping site on the internet except that you pay tax and save shipping.

This is a GREAT service that CompUSA is going to offer! Once-and-for-all, the problem of no needed Mac software in the store will not be an issue!

The concept is great, but it remains to be seen if CompUSA will effectively implement it. When I do shop at CompUSA, I expect it to be pretty much a do-it-myself experience until I get to the cash register...

How much you wanna bet that you dump a wad of cash to buy a bunch of titles and that ONE 14 year old employee who's suppose to knows how to use to machine comes back and says it's not working or he couldn't get it to make your order. And now you got to stand in another freaking long ass line to get a refund because they've already over-charged your credit card.
Yeah RIGHT! And you wonder why this isn't in your local Apple Store?

Too bad there's not such a thing as a golden skunk, because you'd probably be proud to be sprayed by one.
