Apple recently issued a revised version of the 10.2.8 - one that hopefully doesn't disable ethernet on some Power Mac G4's. Here's Apple's description of the update:
The 10.2.8 Update (Build 6R73) includes an updated ethernet driver for 450MHz and 500MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 desktop systems and an update to the battery status menu.
So, that's it. No silly joke or moronic comments. There's nothing funny about losing your Internet connection, y'know.
So let's hope this update also has the added hidden ability to shoot silly string out of the microphone hole of your Macintosh at random intervals.

Had one problem with it..
Updated a Quicksilver Dual 1Ghz with 1GB of RAM, install went fine but on restart it just gave me the white screen with the apple and the little spinning thingy for a good 30 minutes and then when it got through that the login window came up and the little mutilcolored wheel of death was, what looked to be like, exploding. It was very neat. And then in all my geeky glory I HAD to see what was going on underneath so I started her up in verbose mode and to my suprise no errors and BAM right to the desktop .. Hmmm.. Permissions I said to myself. Went in fixed 'um and Viola! Restarts with no problem and it's pretty darn quick. I feel sorry for the poor people that have had this happen and don't know what to do but hopefully this helps .. if you have a second computer that works correctly that is :)

Sweet :) No problems so far with either the original 10.2.8 or the new update on a 700Mhz iMac or an 800Mhz iBook. (* crosses fingers *)
PCs look goofy

Well...the 10.2.8 update (the revised one) screwed up this Biege G3 (w/ a 400Mhz G4) classic and file sharing wouldn't start...had to reinstall OSX...but I installed the update combo and now im in 10.2.8 running fine :-D
