Holy Apple News Day, Batman! |
|
Ok, atAT broadcasts new episodes for like five consecutive weekdays in a row and we can't manage a single post for over three days. Are Jack, Katie and Anya stealing our mojo, or are we just lazy? Methinks it's the latter, but with all the wonderful news about Apple, (yes, and the coffee), we are just as geeked up as can be!
First off, the iTunes Music Store added some great new music, including some songs from The Very Best of Cher!!!
Secondly, the Music Store has sold over 1 meeeeelion songs in it's first week of business.
That, combined with all the great press Apple's been getting lately, has contributed to the company's stock rising over 11% on Monday, (which makes it that much sooner yours truly can buy an iPod!)
Now, if you're an Apple fan and all that news doesn't have you at least buzzing, then probably nothing will. Except for this:
MacDailyNews has cleaned up an article from MacBidouille that actually claims to give benchmarks about the PowerPC 970! (That's the G5 for anyone who's been off-planet for the past year or so.) The speeds, if true, are INCREDIBLE. Here's just an ever-so-brief snippet:
- Photoshop: PPC 970 mono 1.4 is 87% faster than a Dual 1.42 GHz
- Final Cut Pro : PPC 970 mono 1.4 is 112% faster than a Dual 1.42 GHz
- Alias|Wavefront Maya Render : PPC 970 mono 1.4 is 254% faster than a Dual 1.42 GHz.
I don't think there's anything more that needs to be said about that, other than start saving your lunch money!
Now on top of allllll that goodness, (which incidentally is enough to make any Mac user feel like he or she has just been injected with heroin....er...not that I would know what heroin feels like - hate needles - but anyway...), Apple has unveiled the new eMacs!
This update was as quiet as the last iBook update, with no news on the main apple.com page. Specs are as follows:

$799
800MHz PowerPC G4
128MB SDRAM
40GB Ultra ATA drive |

Now, if you're so jaded that all this stuff doesn't even faze you, then you're probably dead. Or undead. Or perhaps you're just Cher. Or Dick Clark. Wait, does Cher even use a Mac? Anyone?

Hey, does anyone know when the new 15 inch PowerBooks are going to come? I want to wait before I buy something that is going to be updated soon. Thanks

Well, yeah, I *am* "so jaded that all this stuff doesn't even faze" me. But that's just because keeping up with rumors, I come to expect everything to just happen...That, and the fact that I'm a certified Haitian zombie. "In your heaaaad..."

If I was the head of a country during a war and I had to sign a peace treaty, just as I was signing I'd glance over the treaty and then suddenly act surprised. "Wait a minute! I thought WE won!"
