So I Got to Humiliate a Windows User Yesterday. . . |
|
I have a coworker who periodically debates me over the various aspects of the Apple vs Microsoft debate. We normally discuss any point: cost, ease of use, viruses, number of programs, color of the icons, anything. We will fight to the death over the most trivial of issues and each one of us thinks he has "won" the arguement.
Well, recently another one of these debates cropped up and it was a lively and spirited contest as always. Now, I am not going to fill you in on what was said because thats not the funny part. No no, not by a long shot. You see, after spending an hour or so on this topic it was time for me to leave. But, before I left I noticed my coworker seemed to be having trouble with his Dell laptop. Not being able to resist I had to ask what happened. The following is a summary of our conversation.
Apparently he couldn't get his windows laptop to print to one of the network printers in the next office. Just so everyone knows the network is run on windows and he is running windows. Ok, lets continue. So, not being able to resist kicking a windows user when he is down I mention that I never have had any problems printing from my iBook. To prove this I print to the printer he is trying to use while he is desperately trying to get his Word document printed. His response to my smug (oh yeah, I was very smug, in fact, I was ozzing smugness at this point) comments "I just need to reboot it, thats all. Then it will work."
Guess what? Yep. He rebooted. And . . .
(drum roll)
it didn't work.
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha (I know, I am a smug jerk sometimes)
Net result: He emails the Word document to me, I print it for him.
One gently used iBook off ebay: $750
One piece of white paper: $.03
Making a windows user look like a fool because you have to print his word documents for him 'cause his machine sucks: Priceless |

Sort of like how when I showed off Virtual PC to a group of Windows users... "Ooooh! You must've paid thousands for that!"
Incidentally - it's the GOOD VPC - the last version from Connectix.
Anyway - I just like putting voice recognition in the faces of Windows users. 'Tis funny - try it sometime!

Yes! Always good to smack down the Windows jerks!
Generally, these days I find a softer, less confrontational approach breeds more switchers, but when dealing with a frothing, ignorant, overzealous Windows fanboy, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
And boy do they look dumb after a good verbal redressing. Or was it taste better with ranch dressing? I'm not sure...

Awsome quote, I don't know where I am going to use it but use it I will. Maybe as a tagline on my email . . .

Same thing happened to me at work. Network goes down and of course all of our documents, pictures, spreadsheets, data, etc. all on the network drives. If I hadn't of copied everything to my iBook that would have been a day or so of wasted time.

Speaking of powerbooks, if I could afford one I would handcuff that mutha' to my wrist like it was a CIA attache case. As for myself, people always ask me why their computers are running so slow, and I tell them that it's because they are running Windows. My soon-to-be-abused quote about PC is going to be WTF IS SPYWARE? Anyway, peace IRL people.

Deep Thoughts |

Tonight, when we were eating dinner, Marta said something that really knocked me for a loop. She said, "I love carrots." "Good," I said as I gritted my teeth real hard. "Then maybe you and carrots would like to go into the bedroom and have sex!" They didn't, but maybe they will sometime, and I can watch.
