Apple Releases New 20" iMac, and Dual 1.8Ghz G5 |
|
Over the weekend when i started to read the rumors about a 20" imac, and the Dual 1.8Ghz G5, I thought they had to be fake. But when I woke up this morning at the crack of noon, and checked Apple's site, I had to eat my own prediction. I figured that Apple would release a 1.8Ghz G5 sometime before any major updates, but a 20" iMac just seemed implausible. After all the 20" Cinema Display is $1,299 (the same price as the 15" iMac), compared to the 17" cinema display at $699. That is one heck of a price increase for 3 inches. It would seem that the price would have to be way to high to appeal to an iMac consumer. But Apple has actually put a really good price on the 20", at $2,199. It has the exact same specs as the 17" model, so the $400 extra is for the bigger display, compair that to the price hike on the cinema displays of $600, and it is a pretty good bargain. After all if you take a Power Mac with the almost the exact same specs and a 20" cinema display you pay $2,598, almost $400 more. |

My 17" iMac widescreen is huge to look at I can only imagine what it like to see a 20" that looks as if it's floating on air on your desk! Great Job Apple

I would think that the iMac would fall over from the size of the screen

Well wasabe the engineering behind the iMac is awesome you wouldn't believe the strength if the neck and the smoothness of the motion I'm sure that the 20" iMac has the same smoothness as the 15" and 17" iMac.
As far as the base it's bigger than what you think. The whole system and the design still keeps me in thinking how is this possible but it still is.. Just Amazing!!

At $2199 and no AirPort or Bluetooth, a small HD and no L3 cache, I think this is a rip off.
Nice screen though, can't knock the screen.
Is there a way to make the screen work when not connected to the iMac? That would be neat.

That -is- a lot of money to spend on a non-pro-level model. But I still want one!

Deep Thoughts |

I remember one night I was walking past Mom and Dad's room when I heard them talking about how they might not have enough money to pay their bills that month. I went and got my piggy bank and buried it in the backyard, where they couldn't get their mitts on it.
