Bill Gates Shows New Windows Security Features |
|
This is rlhamon live in San Francisco at the RSA Conference giving you exclusive 2GAMAAW coverage of the keynote speech by Bill Gates.
Ok, it's starting now. Mr. Gates walks onto the stage to show new security features (oh, this'll be great). Mr. Gates says, "Windows XP will be better when we totally remove all of the bad code and replace it with totally better coding, and I hope you will like it."
Holy cow, it’s true... Bill Gates is showing a totally new secure Microsoft Windows. Also Mr. Gates is showing a totally revamped desktop that will go into the next release of XP. It will place icons on the bottom of your desktop that will also act as a "docking station" and give you a cleaner desktop. When a program is clicked on, the icons will bounce to let you know that said program has been activated. Mr. Gates calls this the "Pier".
Now Mr. Gates is showing off a new color scheme with icons. The icons have a nice glass look to them that he calls "Water". Not Aqua Water but Distilled Water - that’s a big difference. "It’s a major improvement from anything we have ever done."
Mr. Gates states that Apache is now built into Windows XP. Total silence goes over the crowd. "We're also adding M-Life where you have M-Movie and M-DVD and M-Photo and M-Tunes and it’s free and we totally did a lot of work over the past three weeks and ... please people never mind the version 4 message - I know this is brand new but we made improvements before we released it."
Now, as Mr. Gates is finishing up his speech, there are rumblings going on behind me. I'm thinking it's just the Microsoft faithful (both of them) doing the Steve Ballmer Monkey Dance. Now a masked man just came swinging in on a rope, and karate-chopped Bill Gates. Bill is laying helplessly on the floor and now the Masked Man is pulling off his mask. It Steve Jobs! He’s touching the computer that Gates was showing the entire new feature on. Holy Toledo Ohio! It’s not a new version of Windows XP - it’s Mac OS X 10.3.
Mr. Jobs is speaking... I barely can hear him ... he’s saying that if you really want to have a secure operating system that Apple's OS X is the better choice. And he's also saying that cheating on the Pepsi-iTunes promo and stealing music is “Bad Karma” and if you're caught doing either he’ll come to your town and karate-chop you as well. Oh no - Steve's spotted me. This is rlhamon and I'd better go ... "No Mr. Jobs- not the Karate Chop! .. Noooooooo-"
