This Week on iTMS - 02/01/05 |

It's a brand new week with brand new music for you iTunes Junkies® out there. The first thing I should get out of the way is the free download single of the week, "Hoodstomp" by K.V. His hardcore lyrics are loaded with so much dark imagery that it's hard to wonder why you feel good listening to this song. "Hoodstomp" is a raw, edgy track that will definitely make your speakers shake. Get it while it's free.
On the other side of the spectrum is the exclusive EP from Beck, " Hell Yes." It seems that the sorrowful crooning and acoustic guitar from " Sea Change" has been replaced with frat-boy lyrics, Nintendo-esque bleeps and "two turn-tables and a microphone." Those of you who were longing for Beck to return with some party-friendly music need long no more. "Hell Yes" will be a welcome addition to any Party Shuffle.
Green Day is still number one this week. That's not really a surprise, that song still kicks the many butts that try to contend with it... I guess.... I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Someone you may want to keep your eye on is Conor Oberst, A.K.A. Bright Eyes. His two new albums bring so much talent to the table that you might think he's just showing off. "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" is a straightforward album of stunning folk songs. It's almost Dylan-esque. (I know that's second time I used the whole "esque"thing to describe something. It's just that I'm unimaginative and boring as a writer and as a person.) His other new album, "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn", is so dark you may want to hide the razor-blades until you do something that makes you happy. Like running over mimes in your car. The albums are good and are worth downloading.
That's about all of the "news" I can handle this week. Come by next week when I'll be critiquing Jonahan's podcast. Until then, here's that iMix you asked for. |

Interesting iMix. Good take on the “Hoodstomp. I’m not a big Hip Hop/Rap fan but I can hear that this is not bad.
