 Decision Time People!
Help me here with a decision. The latch on my iBook broke on the way over to New York. I'm not sure how. I'm not sure why. But when I find the evildoer who did this, he/she/it will pay.

Now I want to know if I should go through all the trouble of sending my iBook in to fix the latch, or should stick through the pain and just tell myself: "David. Don't haggle with those street vendors in Times Square for two hours about whether a hat costs three dollars or three and a half dollars and then, after witnessing first hand Dan Rather jumping out of a twelve story window and crashing into a limo, agreeing on the hat being three dollars and twenty-five cents."

Ooooo-Kay. Brain got a bit carried away there. Back to the subject of this article. Should I send in the iBook to get fixed or just live with it. I mean - I hardly ever close it. And when I do, I could just tape it up.

But then again my iBook is an investment, a commitment if you will; A part of the family. A friend. A friend who likes to play games with my head by showing me a big picture of a donkey, flashing the words, "You're a retard", then shutting off for the next 48 hours.

And no friend like that should have a broken part. So I ask you America, and the people of 2guysamacandawebsite.com. Will you help me in my time of need? Will give your valuable advice on this very important matter?

Please do. And if you really think I should get it fixed, please mail me lots of money 'cause I'm broke and my AppleCare has run out.

Thanks!

how much will it cost? I think the answer lies in if you think the cost is worth not having to "Tape it up"?

Bill Palmer 7/6/03, 5:23 PM EDT
If it's under warranty, send it in. Based on my experiences, you'll get it back within a few days, hassle-free. If you don't do it now, you might forget to have it done before the warranty expires, meaning that in the future it will be difficult to resell it, or donate it to your nephew or whatever.

Whoops, if I could just learn to read thoroughly, I could have seen the part where you said it was out of warranty. You might call Apple and ask for an estimate. It's not like they'd be replacing the motherboard, so it might cost less than you think. Then again...

I think I'll find what it will cost. If its alot I won't. I hardly ever close it and I have no nephews yet. If it's reasonably priced, I might try to get it fixed when Ii get back from New York.

Or you could just invest a big rubber band! It will last longer than tape, it won't leave that sticky crap behind and if you decorate with it, it could up the resell value!

The same thing happened to my iBook about 6 months ago. All I did was called up Apple and they sent me a box(with return shipping already paid) overnight and I sent them my iBook. The event happened on a wednesday and by the following tuesday My iBook was back and fixed at no charge to me.

I always get my macs fixed. I don't want them to interbreed and come up with another PC platform.

You have to take your pets to the vet if they're hurt right? The Mac is no different! ;)

Zack 8/2/03, 10:50 AM EDT
If it turns out to be a hundered smackers or less, I'd get it fixed. It'd be worth it.

I hate having something that I've spent so much money on be broken. It's like a dent in your car door, or scratch in your car's paint - it's annoying as crap.. you paid too much for the car to have a bunch of dents and scratches stay in it. Know what I mean, vern?

 Deep Thoughts
As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.
