Some potential reminders for us all to be careful when buying the first revision of any computer maker's product...
ThinkSecret reports that Apple is now addressing a problem with the PowerMac's G5's power supply that had been previously largely ignored. Apple closed a discussion forum on the topic on their support site and directed users to a somewhat irrelevant tech note page about ground loops. As ThinkSecret says, "Internal Apple service note acknowledges the problem and states that Apple will replace the power supplies of affected machines".
Meanwhile, MacBidouille informs us that "Apple is currently having stock problems to replace current G5 2GHz motherboards", due to burnt out motherboards. Note that this is the only source we've heard this problem from nd MacBidouille has only had 10 such cases so far. The article goes on to suggest that this problem with stock components could mean changes in who supplies the components OR updates to the the PowerMac line.

Actually this problems is easy to have. When I would build a PC (ok ok I needed the money) something as a bad power supply, bad solder on a case, a bad solder on the motherboard, bad screws would cause the mother board to ground wrong to the case, plus a million other problems can cause a ground loop.
This isn't a Apple only problem it's a potential problem with all computer makers. But at least Apple has nutted up to a problem that more than any other computer manufacturer would do.

okcalla, I think you might need some anger management.
On the other hand, the tech note page was a bit of BS. While it is technically correct, it isn't a solution.

I remember one night I was walking past Mom and Dad's room when I heard them talking about how they might not have enough money to pay their bills that month. I went and got my piggy bank and buried it in the backyard, where they couldn't get their mitts on it.
