 Microsoft Office v.X Anti-Piracy
Not that we condone piracy by any means - but if you're going to be a pirate, Microsoft is a big fat Spanish Galleon, sailing home slowly and low in the water because it's cargo hold is so full of booty! Not THAT kind of booty - I meant like, gold, but that doesn't really matter. Matter of fact, forget the whole bloody analogy, because it'll probably just get me tossed in jail anyhoo. What I'm trying to say here is that, whether you know it or not, Microsoft has added a 'feature' to it's latest incarnation of Office that checks for other copies of itself with the same serial number. Well, there are arguments for and against this type of anti-piracy, and there ARE possibilities for hacking, even though MS says security risks are low and at the worst a hacker would be able to shut down your running copy of Office.

Even so, you may want to shut that feature down. There's a few commands you can run in the Terminal, but that seems to only last for a week or two. The best thing to do is enable the built-in firewall in OS X on all the machines you want disabled. To do so, open up your System Preferences, go to the Sharing pane, then click the Firewall tab. Hit start, and checkmark any services you want to allow.

And there ya have it - just remember, you're NOT a pirate, you're just securing your Mac.

In school Math was my favorite subject because I really liked Pi. Did I say Pi? I meant pies, I really liked pies.
