Official 2GAMAAW Holiday List of Cool Crapİ |
|
With The holidays just around the corner, and the biggest shopping day of the year a week away, we would like to offer up the "Official 2GAMAAW Holiday List of Cool Crapİ"!. This list includes everything from practical to... um... impractical, in all kinds of price ranges. And we ARE going to skip all the obvious things like the iPod, iTunes Music Store Gift Certificates, or any Macintosh computer. But every thing here is guaranteed to be some of the coolest, geekiest gifts you can get this year. So in no particular order, let's begin the nerdfest!
1. The Cube Aquarium ($500-$700)
We've all seen the final upgrade for Mac Classics, and iMacs over at MacAquarium But this guy brought it in to the 21st century. The Cube, although a technological achievement, was a flop. But now with his instructions and a cube you could breath new life in to the doomed machine. If you don't have a cube ebay has working cubes for $500 or less, and the aquarium really looks good. Any Mac head would love to add this to their collection.
2. Atari Classics 10-in-1 TV Games ($34.99)
As geeks we love video games. It's in our blood. Also we love old video games, something about paying homage to the greats just gets us going. Some of us are old enough to have even owned an Atari. Countless hours spent moving the joystick and pressing that one button. And who could forget blowing in to the cartridges to clean them before inserting them? Think about how big the console, all the games, the joysticks, everything was. And then look at the "Atari Classics 10-in-1 TV Games" size. It's just the joystick. Amazing how far we've come, isn't it?
3. Collectables from Red Light Runner ($2.95-1099.95)
If you can't find something for an Apple collection here, there is nothing to find. Some of the best Apple Collectables are for sale here, and while some prices are outrageous, some are very well priced. Along with everything from stickers to shirts, some of the best posters Apple ever produced are available here. The "Think Different" posters, for example, are available here. Incidentally, that poster of Dr. Richard Feynman, I've had that one for a few years, and I always thought it was Tom Hanks teaching algebra. I learn something new every day!
4. Mac Skinz ($30-$50)
Jonathan Ive and the rest of Apples design team has done one hell of a job to make our Mac's look good. Everyone who owns a Mac knows that, and agrees. But we also like to be different. We love to customize our computers, and there is no better way to add a little personal touch to our beloved computers than with a great looking "Mac Skin". Available now for most of the iBook, and power book line, and in limited quantities for the Power Mac G4 case, also available soon for the iPod, and G5. A Mac Skin can provide you with a high quality design, or a clear design so you can paint it yourself, or even add photos.
5. Space Ghost's Desk and Chair ($39,999)
For the price of a small house, or a big truck, you can pretend to interview famous celebrities, and shock your band leader with your power bands. You can, in fact, pretend to be Space Ghost. The desk features mood lighting, a 15" LCD TV (that pops up from the desk), A Sony sound system, Mini Fridge, cordless telephone, and even computer ports. It also comes with the chair, featuring the Space Ghost logo, and a 8 point massage system. A wonderful gift for any one who loves Space Ghost, myself included. Even if the price is a little bit outrageous.
6. Halo: Combat Evolved for the Mac ($49.95)
One of the most anticipated games will be released for the Mac on December 3rd. From the makers of the great series, Marathon; Bungie. Halo is one of the best games I have personally played. It looks gorgeous on the X-Box, and it should look even better on the Mac. The Story was phenomenal, and lets not forget the game play. Hours of fun. When you add Multiplayer, it gets even better. The Mac version, along with new weapons, and improved warthog, will also have the ability to use the Banshee (a free flying vehicle used by the alien forces) in multiplayer levels. Something X-Box owners have been screaming for. Bungie has never let Macs down before Microsoft bought them, and even though this title had to be ported through another company, I expect it to be down right awesome.
7. James Bond Stealth Camera ($99.99)
Go ahead and admit it. You want to be a spy. Anything super small, and spy like is really cool isn't it? Well, then this is for you. A James Bond Stealth Camera. What's so stealthy about it? It looks like a zippo, but when you open it, it's actually a camera, one hit of the button, close the zippo, and you are ordering martini's shaken not stirred with no one the wiser.
8. CompuCable USB Startup Key ($14.99)
The latest version of the Macintosh keyboard is missing something that it has had in the past. The power key. It was nice to be able to just hit that button on the keyboard, and power on your mac, but no longer. Until now, thanks to CompuCable's USB Startup Key, you can attach a power button to your Apple keyboard and get that functionality back. It's not terribly expensive, and what better gift to give, then the gift of not having to reach under the desk to turn your computer on.
9. Kensington StudioMouse Wireless ($37.99)
The Apple mouse is cool. It looks awesome, and the new wireless bluetooth mouse is even better. But the biggest problem with the Apple mouse, is that it only has one button, and no scroll wheel. A better solution is the Kensington StudioMouse, you can get a wired, or a wireless mouse, and they really looks good. Something most mouse manufacturers forget. Plus the Scroll wheel is really cool. It's kind of like a track pad. My only complaint with the mouse is it only has 2 buttons. I regularly use 5 buttons on my mouse now.
10. Eye TV ($199.99)
Outside of work, where is most of the day spent? In front of the computer and in front of the T.V., right? Of course it is. why not combine the Two? Eye TV does just that. It is a Video to USB converter that can take RF or RCA inputs, and adds Tivo like functionality to your Mac. You can record shows, and save them to your hard drive. You can even play the video in the dock. How cool is that? |

Deep Thoughts |
|
I only played hooky one time, so I'll never forget it. I hid in the bushes right outside my classroom. And since the window was open, I could hear the teacher, so I went ahead and took notes. When the teacher asked a question, I raised my hand, but she couldn't see me.
