 Halo for Mac
<rant>Well I got Halo yesterday from the online Apple Store. Ripped it open, installed it, and was waiting for some co-op mutiplayer gaming, when alas I find there's no co-op in multiplayer mode. What the heck?

Uhhh ... wasn't that the whole freaking IDEA behind this game? I guess the reason was that it would have taken more time to get it out if they did a co-op mode. Well, why did it take 2 years in the first place and since the Bungie version of Mac Halo was 98% done don'tcha think they'd have it somewhere?

I used to love Bungie but now they make me want to vomit when I hear their name. Oni was a letdown as well with ZERO multiplayer support. Halo does look good, I have to give it that - but I waited 5 stinkin' years for this garbage? With no co-op mode!!!??!! Grrrrr! As I was playin Halo a bit it did give me a little deja vu of playing Marathon. You get Marines that talk smack, ala Marathon, and you get about 5 or 6 at a time too. So basically this game is just an upgraded Marathon.

They MIGHT add co-op but who knows, as Halo 2 is coming in April. Also please note: only the XBOX version gets the co-op mode, neither PC nor Mac do. Which, in this case is good because we have more people whining that we want it. It just blows my mind that from the beginning this game was supposed to have this option. Yet we get hosed because now Bungie is Billy-Boy's little redheaded step child. Bungie: You guys used to rock but now that Billy's hand is in your collective pockets squishing your collective balls, you SUCK! </rant>

Whoa, down boy!

Valid points though.

I just have no desire to ever install Halo. The whole MS debacle just left a bad taste in my mouth. It could be the best game ever, but releasing it for XBOX first and only now getting ot out for the Mac? Fahgeddabout it. Won't buy it, play it, or even hump the box.

Wait no, what am I saying? Of COURSE I'd hump the box, but I'd have to be thinking of some other game. lol ...

halo rulz, and I can play co-op on my x-box... so it's all good... bring on the mac version!

Matty 12/14/03, 8:58 PM EDT
it may good but does it really look any better than the demo that was released in 1999

ZackMac 12/15/03, 9:07 AM EDT
Nope, it doesn't look any better than the Macworld demo of '99.

now now, relax y felow Mac users. At least you have online mutiplayer on the Mac version of Halo. I do have an Xbox, so I'll have to wait until Halo 2 is out in a few months to enjoy that. Besides, i'm buying an iBook around Februrary or so, you can have the best of both worlds.

master chief 12/15/03, 11:19 AM EDT
that's old news - they announced that they weren't going to include Co-op a long time ago. get an Xbox if you want co-op (it is awesome being able to team up against the bad guys)

Your on a mac site telling me to buy a MicroShaft product? Come on now...

"Corporate" Huge-Gemoney 12/15/03, 3:31 PM EDT
OK- hate MicroSloth all you want (and Bungie for selling out to B.G. III)... but APPLE had the SAME OPPORTUNITY to offer to buy Bungie that MegaSloth did... but probably never really considered it for a moment. HALO turned out to be so very important to the launch of the X-Box - maybe now APPLE would "think different"ly about playing corporate take-over chess with MS! (Didn't the "Pippin" game machine die stillborn years before the X-Box hit the shelves too???) I'm dumb enough to LOVE APPLE like most of the rest of you, but it's a streetfight out in there in the "marketplace" and too much of the time APPLE just ends up being a pussy/pushover! It would've been worth the purchase price to snag Bungie JUST TO PISS GATES OFF even if Apple did take a bath on the deal!

I bet you use Word AND Excel

Cap Hegemoney 12/15/03, 5:16 PM EDT
You BET I use Word AND Excel (once in a blue moon) and I bet a most of you do too... which I see nothing wrong with... as long as we weren't NAIVE enough to actually pay the GALAXY'S richest bi-ped for the priviledge! (GO iSerials/R.I.P. Surfer's Serials!!!) ;-) Hey, now that you mention it, why sit here beefing about Bungie finally porting an allegedly incomplete HALO to the Mac when you can easily demon-strate the ultimate in software spite and krak and consume HALO/Mac in protest?!?!?!?! (another unmentioned advantage over the X-Box version .. heh-heh!) Just stop the madness, stop the whining over the ether, meeesther!

rlhamon 12/15/03, 5:48 PM EDT
last time i checked the game was old. with saying that i will go back a play tecmo bowl.

iKen 12/15/03, 8:09 PM EDT
just to chime in my 33.7 cents on the whole purchasing microsoft goods comments. I don't necessarily have anything against microsofts when I say that I don't like windows, internet explorer, office, msn messenger, outlook express, microsoft mice, ect, it's because those products are sub-par, and I like things that are superior to them. That's why I use OS X, Safari, Apple Works, iChat, Mail, and a kensington mouse. But the X-Box is a very good console, the best in my honest opinion, so that is why I own, and love my X-Box. Most of my friends were shocked when I bought it, they all thought I hated microsoft too much, but because the X-Box is far superior to the other consoles I got that, despite the fact that it came from a company that usually turns out crap.

Those of you who can not forget the original anticipation for this game followed buy the sinking feeling when M$ bought Bungie will probably never like it no matter how good it is or will become. Those of us who would rather frag online and cooperate with 7 other teammates will just have to settle for having fun. Sorry to disappoint.

Jonahan 12/16/03, 8:02 AM EDT
I've played Halo on the XBOX and was disappointed. Never did play online though, so maybe that's where the fun is. :

And iKen, I totally agree with you!

Accidental Ninja 12/20/03, 12:58 AM EDT
Ok....ok..........look. No. Over here. Alright. iKen, I'm glad to find you saying that in here, and you know I agree, we've had this discussion countless times. As for Halo, pretty much the most spectacular 1st person shooter to date, and as for the coming of Halo 2, well, all I can say is "Banshees in Multiplayer". C'mon. I'll say it again. "Banshees in Multiplayer". Man........that just steals my breath and makes my typing fingers tickle. "Banshees in......" ok.......sorry, it's an addicting sensation, not far off from crack. I'm saddened to hear that Halo for PC and Mac neglects Co-Op mode, but since iKen sucks less than the average bear and owns the X-Box version, I must say, you can only beat the game with a friend a few gazillion times before you don't care anymore.
My final decree. XBox is definately not the suck, Halo is not only combat evolved, its 1st person shooters evolved, and Halo 2 might just force me to sell more babies so I can afford an X-Box of my own :)
