Whoa, what the!? It's December 20th? When the hell did that happen? Well shucks, the last time I posted something (other than a news snippet) was on November 26th, so I guess everyone's about due for a dose of rheumatoid logorrhea from yours truly.
But what to write about? I mean, so much has happened in the wild and wooly world of Apple in the past few weeks. I could talk about the FlashPod in rumored development, or the upcoming Apple/Motorola "iPhone" that Apple V.P. Eddy Cue intriguingly fessed up to even before the rumor sites got wind of it. Hopefully, Eddie was supposed leak said iPhone info, as Apple has also filed a law suit against people with lips loose enough to sink ships.
But that all pales in comparison to the fact that hell froze over and resident 2GAMAAW'er HTML Samurai now actually owns a Mac! Wow, you go girl!
Plus, I must have missed it somewhere along the line, but apparently Apple's digital music player (I think they call it an ... eye-POD ... is that right?) is selling fairly well. It's all the rage among the kids these days and pretty hard to find. I've heard tell of Mom's all across the land lining up before dawn and fighting tooth and nail to try and get some of the 'lil buggers. They're bigger than hula hoops and bocce ball.
Something else I found interesting were rumors of said eye-POD someday gaining the ability to get music via an XM satellite receiver. Such crazytalk was subsequently squleched (well, sort of - at least as squelched as an Apple rumor can get. Apple rumors are like Jason, you can't really kill them; no matter how badly you burn, mutilate, blow up or otherwise destroy them they just come back in the next movie).
Some other news of note is that Microsoft has issued a critical patch for Windows XP. Um, well, ok... perhaps that sort of news headline could be slapped into a story any day of the week and it would be true, but this is one of the first for the fairly recent XP Service Pack 2 update. The security hole was apparently in the firewall settings and it could open up PC's to attack, "if the machines had been set to share files or a printer with the local network". But the really fun part is where the blame gets laid and how the fine folks at Microsoft pass the buck! Straight from Gary Schare, director of product management for Windows: "'We didn't do as good a job as we intended getting this out,' he said. 'This fell between the teeth. The security team said it wasn't a vulnerability, so we don't handle it, and the product people said they are not used to meeting the monthly update schedule.'"
Hmm. Ah well, at least Microsoft didn't try to shut down a Mac site just because someone posted a serial number in their forums. What? They did? Ahhh cheese and crackers got all muddy. I really need to stay on top of this stuff.
Well until next time, make mine Mac or slap me with a 20 pound salmon.

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someones neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing.
