Starting A MUG - Update 2 |
|
Well, It has been a week since my first update on the MUG, and a lot has happened in that week, so I am posting again. We've decided on a name: L.A.M.U.G., or Lima Area Mac User Group. Plus we finally have a date, it's November 1st at 3 PM. We are going to schedule the meeting for 2 hours, but keep our options open in case it goes longer. We also have a room reserved, it's different than the one I originally planned on, it's going to be at the Lima/Allen Council on Community Affairs. This will be better because we have a projector, and a dual T1 internet connection at our disposal. :)
We also have a domain now: limamug.com! There isn't much up there yet, but it's there. In fact, the one thing that is up there is new since last week. Our Flyer. So if you are at all interested, check it out, and if you are in the Lima area, print it out, and post it at work. We would very much appreciate it. We may even send ya something free if you a picture with the flyer posted at work.
We've also decided on meeting content. We are going to be previewing Panther, showing off Konfabulator, and we will have a "guest speaker" from 2 guys to talk about hosting a web site on your mac. Plus we will talk about the latest Apple news, and above all else, have fun.
As to the groups structure, The Apple Ambassador will be me. And we have 2 of our 3 initial officer positions filled. Jonahan, and Jedbeck were kind enough to take the positions. So with less than two weeks we are looking good, and I am starting to feel better about it. I just hope people show up. :)

don't worry. If i hafta go AWOL, spend $100 for a airplane ticket, and somehow find where the hell the lima area is, I will make it to the first meeting.
Or mebbe not.

Hehe...that would be going a little far Wasabe, but we would appreciate it, and it'd be nice to meet you in person.
Also, the new website is up at limamug.com. Still not much there yet, but what's there is the open-source blog I was tal king about a while back. Still needs some work, but if anyone is interested in using it, lemme know.

Actually, It's only a single T1 used for the internet...the other one is just phone lines...and the one that's used for the internet is 1/2 internet 1/2 phone so it's not full T1 speed.

Well dammit Gildogg! Can't we get a T-3? Or an OC3? We need some serious speed for our presentations!!!!! ;)

Deep Thoughts |

If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.
